Benicia Ballet Theatre responds to COVID-19
Dear Coppélia Families:
We would like to thank all of our families - including all of our wonderful dancers - for their commitment and hard work on behalf of Benicia Ballet Theatre. Benicia Ballet Theatre has been regularly reassessing our needs as we move forward and continue to adjust our lives due to COVID-19. BBT has always prided itself on being a strong community that gathers twice a year with professional productions that shine a spotlight on our childrens’ talents. However, at this time we must think of the health and safety of our community. It is because of this that we announce with a heavy heart that the BBT Board of Directors has decided to cancel this year’s production of Coppélia.
We want to assure you that BBT can reimburse our families for the remaining balances of their Coppélia fees as pro-rated: twelve rehearsals were scheduled and six were completed, so a 50% refund of total fees for the show can be returned. The first half of the fees will help offset costs we have incurred, including faculty pay for rehearsals with our children and costumes that Jeanette has made for the show. Fortunately, we can still benefit from the beautiful choreography that Margaret and our faculty created for the show at a later date.
BBT is hoping that some of our families might consider these two alternatives to requesting a straight refund:
Convert the refund to a tax deductible donation to BBT.
Rollover the refund amount and apply the money towards the 2020 Nutcracker fees.
We are all looking forward to moving past this very difficult time and continuing to offer more opportunities to our dancers - from our summer programs to our productions. If you have any questions regarding BBT, please feel free to reach out to me directly at email@example.com.
Thank you and stay safe,
BBT Board President
